SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — Summerville Medical Center kicked off Halloween early this year, celebrating with their NICU babies under the theme “Babies Under Construction.” This event marks the eighth annual Halloween celebration for the NICU and their families.
In addition to Halloween festivities, the center has significant news to celebrate. In 2024, Summerville Medical Center achieved Level III Neonatal ICU status. This upgrade enables them to care for infants born before 32 weeks’ gestation and those with specific medical conditions requiring surgery or specialized pediatric care.
As part of the celebration, the nursing team dedicated over 40 hours to designing and handcrafting 16 costumes while ensuring the highest quality and safety for the vulnerable infants. The costumes included themes such as tape measures, saws, construction workers, dry wall, and caution cones, all perfectly aligning with the “construction” theme.
