On Friday, Health Canada issued a consumer product advisory for 10 baby walkers available on eBay.ca. The advisory warns that these products may pose injury risks to infants. It also reminds consumers that baby walkers are banned in Canada.

According to Health Canada, these walkers have a removable fabric base. When detached, it allows a child’s feet to touch the floor, increasing the risk of injury. Health Canada states, “Children in baby walkers are exposed to hazards that would not normally be accessible if the child were not supported by the walker.” The advisory further highlights that children can fall down stairs while using walkers, potentially leading to serious injuries or even death.

Earlier this month, Health Canada issued a warning about three other baby walkers sold online, citing similar safety concerns.

The federal agency urges consumers to “immediately stop using” the walkers and dispose of them to prevent any future use. If consumers have experienced health or safety incidents related to these products, they are encouraged to complete the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.

Baby walkers have been banned in Canada since 2004. This ban extends to the second-hand sale of walkers at flea markets and garage sales. Before the official ban, a voluntary retail industry prohibition had been in effect since 1989.
