Corey Taylor: Dave Grohl’s Out-of-Marriage Baby Doesn’t Affect His Kindness

by Jessica

Corey Taylor, the frontman of Slipknot, recently shared his thoughts on Dave Grohl becoming a father to a baby girl outside of marriage. Taylor described Grohl’s actions as “irresponsible,” but emphasized that it does not diminish Grohl’s character as a person.

Earlier this month, Grohl, the lead singer of Foo Fighters, announced the birth of his daughter with another woman. He is reportedly working hard to regain the trust of his wife, Jordyn Blum, and their three daughters: Violet, Harper, and Ophelia.

A social media post that claimed the newborn was named Roxie Junie Grohl went viral, stating she was “truly a Grohl through and through.” However, this claim was debunked by Grohl’s representatives, who confirmed to NME that it was false.

In light of these events, Taylor, a longtime friend of Grohl, commented on the situation during a recent episode of the podcast Your Mom’s House, hosted by comedians Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky. When asked about the “messy” situation, Taylor suggested that Grohl announced the birth to take control of the narrative before the baby’s mother made it public.

Taylor acknowledged that Grohl’s actions might disappoint many fans due to the image he has built over the years. He remarked, “Obviously, it’s very irresponsible,” and reminded listeners that no one is perfect. He added, “This happening does not mean he’s not a nice person. It means he’s got issues and he messed up. It’s going to be very difficult for his family.”

He concluded his remarks by stating, “Did he do something horrible? Yes. But if that’s the one thing that defines him, then what are we doing? It’s disappointing.”

Since Grohl’s announcement, his daughters Violet and Harper have deactivated their Instagram accounts. Violet, who has toured with Foo Fighters and contributed to the band’s 2023 track “Show Me How,” is known for her close relationship with her father. The song is part of the emotional album But Here We Are, created after the loss of Grohl’s mother, Virginia, and late drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

Meanwhile, Slipknot recently settled a lawsuit with the estate of their late drummer Joey Jordison. Last year, Jordison’s estate sued the band, alleging they profited from his death by using his name and belongings in a traveling exhibition called Knotfest. The estate claimed this was done despite the band’s promise to return Jordison’s belongings to his family after he was dismissed in 2013.

Slipknot is set to hit the road later this year for a UK and European tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The tour will kick off at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on December 5, 2024, before moving on to shows in Germany, Zürich, and Paris. The band will continue to Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham, concluding at London’s O2 Arena on December 20. Tickets are available for purchase now.
