Mae Whitman Names Her First Baby After Parenthood Co-Star

by Jessica

Mae Whitman has officially become a parent. The “Parenthood” star revealed the arrival of her first child, a son, on August 28. She shared a photo of the newborn’s feet on Instagram and playfully referenced Justin and Hailey Bieber’s recent baby news.

“Not to be a Bieber about it, but I too just gave birth to our son, Miles,” Mae wrote. “From the moment we heard his first tiny sound, we were completely smitten.”

Mae described her son as “the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little baby.” She also disclosed that the baby is named after her “Parenthood” co-star Miles Heizer, who played her younger brother on the NBC series.

“He’s our best friend, much like his namesake, Uncle Miles,” Mae added. She expressed immense gratitude for being chosen as his parents and shared her excitement: “We love you! We’re so happy!”

Mae and Heizer have maintained their friendship since “Parenthood” ended its six-season run in 2015. Heizer was present, along with their on-screen mother Lauren Graham, when Mae announced her pregnancy. On May 12, Mae shared a photo of herself with her baby bump next to her former castmates, noting, “Mother’s Day looking a little different this year!”

Mae also expressed her deep bond with Lauren Graham in a 2023 tribute, saying, “I wish words could convey the depth of my love and gratitude for you, but they can’t, so I’ll do us both a favor and not try.”

Mae has not disclosed details about her relationship status or the identity of the baby’s father.
