SAN MATEO, Calif. — A 33-year-old man was arrested in Southern California after fleeing from San Mateo, where he is suspected in the death of his pregnant girlfriend, police said on Monday.
On Sunday evening, police responded to a call at a home on the 1300 block of South B Street in San Mateo. They found a 37-year-old woman who was nine months pregnant, along with her unborn child, deceased. The woman lived at the residence with her boyfriend, Andrew Coleman, who is now the prime suspect.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death but confirmed that family members discovered the woman at the home. Investigators identified Coleman as a suspect based on witness statements and evidence at the scene. They used technology to track his movements as he drove towards Southern California.
San Mateo police enlisted help from various law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department. Coleman’s vehicle was eventually spotted by the West Covina Police Department, who arrested him on Sunday night.
