Wayne Brady’s former wife and business partner, Mandie Taketa, recently shared her worries about Brady’s mental health after learning he was expecting a child. Taketa spoke with People Magazine on Thursday, July 25, about the difficult timing surrounding the news.
Taketa, who has a 21-year-old daughter named Maile with Brady, expressed her concerns about Brady’s emotional well-being when he was informed of his ex-girlfriend’s pregnancy.
“I was particularly worried about Wayne’s mental health during that period because it was a tough time for him,” Taketa said. She highlighted that Brady, who was 51 at the time, was struggling with the news.
“We had just returned from my mother’s funeral when this news came out,” Taketa explained, underscoring the added stress of the situation.
Brady, now 52, discovered his ex-girlfriend was pregnant a few weeks after attending his grandmother Valerie’s funeral in the Virgin Islands. The baby, a boy named Val Henry, was born shortly after.
In a recent episode of his reality series, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, Brady announced that he has welcomed six-month-old Val into his life.
