After emergency services were summoned to an industrial estate on Vlaardingweg around 5pm, a tragic incident unfolded when a baby, found in a parked car, was rescued but could not be saved despite efforts by paramedics. The infant, reported to be in poor health upon discovery, succumbed despite resuscitation attempts.
Police, who described the event as “very tragic,” initially arrested a 33-year-old man at the scene, later identified as the child’s father. He was subsequently released after questioning. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing a man breaking the rear windscreen of the car, a grey Audi with Belgian plates, in an attempt to reach the baby before emergency services arrived.

“We believe some glass may have struck the baby, but unfortunately, it seemed too late for the baby to receive sufficient air,” one eyewitness told The Telegraaf.
