by Jessica

JEDDAH: The University of Jeddah has developed a device that utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to detect preterm birth, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The device calculates the amount of amniotic fluid in the fetal sac and identifies potential fetal issues early on, enabling timely medical interventions. This innovation aims to enhance outcomes by supporting fetal lung development and ensuring placental health.

“This highlights the effectiveness of Saudi innovations and their global competitiveness,” the report noted.

The device provides continuous health monitoring, reducing hospital visits and ensuring prompt medical attention as necessary. It integrates advanced ultrasonic sensors and AI to ensure accuracy, minimizing false alarms, and supports remote monitoring via mobile applications, facilitating easier patient follow-up without frequent hospital trips.

Additionally, it features a user-friendly interface that allows pregnant women to monitor amniotic fluid levels conveniently at home, the report added.
