MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 20-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday for assaulting her parents and endangering her 9-month-old child.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kelsey Galvan’s parents were babysitting her son while she spent the night partying. Around 3 a.m., Galvan returned to pick up her child. Her parents, suspecting she was intoxicated, refused to hand over the baby. This led to a violent altercation, during which Galvan allegedly kicked and bit her mother, grabbed a knife, and threatened to kill both parents.
After the incident, deputies say Galvan left the house with her son in a car seat but failed to secure the seat properly. As she sped away, she struck a neighbor’s mailbox. Although deputies considered the safety of the child a priority, they chose not to chase her but followed at a safe distance.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of Hansen Road and Westshore Drive, where Galvan was arrested. Her child was unharmed.
Galvan faces charges including first-degree assault, felony harassment, threats to kill, reckless endangerment, and hit-and-run. The investigation is ongoing, and Child Protective Services is involved.
