Officials from the Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) rescued a newborn girl found abandoned in the bushes in Kanchikacherla village, NTR District, on Thursday.
The baby’s cries were heard by villagers, who immediately alerted Anganwadi workers. Weighing approximately 1.8 kg, the infant was rushed to the Government Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit for treatment, said G. Uma Devi, Project Director of WD&CW.

“We are working to locate the mother who abandoned the baby,” Ms. Uma Devi added.
