A baby boy who defied the odds after weighing just 1lb 10oz at birth is now preparing for his first Christmas dinner. Iarla Ace, born prematurely at 25 weeks last October at the Royal Maternity Hospital in Belfast, had his feeding tube removed just in time for the holiday season.
Doctors initially feared he wouldn’t survive, as he faced numerous health challenges, including a brain haemorrhage shortly after birth. Despite these setbacks, Iarla has amazed doctors by overcoming these serious issues. He has undergone five surgeries and spent 127 days in the hospital. In February of this year, he was finally discharged to his home in Castlecaulfield, near Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
