4th December 2024 – Hong Kong – A photo circulating online shows a notably large baby stroller aboard what appears to be an MTR East Rail train. In the image, a child is seen sitting comfortably with their feet extended, making the stroller look almost luxurious. While the child seems content, the parents have faced criticism from many netizens for being inconsiderate to fellow passengers. Some people expressed frustration, pointing out that parents often take up a seat for themselves while positioning the stroller to face them, blocking the aisle.
MTR East Rail guidelines state that the combined length, width, and height of any luggage carried by passengers must not exceed 170 centimetres, with no side exceeding 130 centimetres in length. Whether the stroller in question exceeds these dimensions is unclear without exact measurements. However, some netizens argue that even if the stroller is within the regulations, a little more consideration for other passengers could go a long way. For example, temporarily stowing the stroller and holding the child for a while could create a more comfortable environment for everyone on board.
