Man Finds Two Abandoned Babies in Freezing Ditch While Collecting Packages

by Jessica

A man collecting packages outside his home in Indianapolis made a shocking discovery when he found two babies abandoned in a ditch in freezing temperatures.

Robert Deane, a resident on the southeast side of the city, was outside his home when he noticed two car seats in a ditch. Upon investigating, he found two baby girls, both left in the icy conditions. The babies, aged 4 and 5 months, had been kidnapped earlier that day in a stolen vehicle.

Police later confirmed that the infants were abandoned in the 27-degree weather, though it remains unclear how long they had been left outside. Indianapolis police spokesperson William Young expressed concern about the babies’ well-being. “It’s extremely cold out here, and if it weren’t for this individual coming outside, who knows what could have happened,” he said. “We’re still in the early stages of this investigation, but we are focused on identifying those responsible.”

Young commended Deane for his quick thinking, praising him for ensuring the babies were taken to safety. “He did what any good person would do. He got those infants to shelter. This is exactly the outcome we hoped for,” Young said. “We don’t have a suspect in custody yet, but identifying the person responsible is our next priority.”

Tragic Death of Newborn Baby on Skid Row

In a separate incident, a newborn baby was found dead after being thrown from a fourth-floor window in downtown Los Angeles. Authorities say the baby boy was discovered in an alley near the 500 block of San Pedro Street around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.

A passerby attempted to administer CPR on the baby while waiting for emergency responders, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. Police suspect the baby may have been thrown from a bathroom window on the fourth floor shortly after his mother gave birth. At the time of the incident, a woman was hospitalized due to significant bleeding, leading authorities to investigate the possibility that she was the mother.

The woman was later detained by police but was released pending further investigation.

These tragic incidents highlight the extreme risks faced by vulnerable infants and the importance of swift intervention in such dire situations.
