Police have successfully rescued a baby who was kidnapped from the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and arrested three women involved in the crime.
The arrested women have been identified as Umera Avez Sheikh, Nasreen Banu Abdul Rahim, and Fathima Fayaz Sheikh, all residents of Kalaburagi. They allegedly kidnapped the infant of Ramakrishna Ssagar and Kasturi on Monday after entering the hospital under the pretense of being hospital staff.
According to the police commissioner, the motive behind the kidnapping was linked to a relative of the accused who had been unable to have children for the past 6-7 years. The relative faced challenges in adopting a male child due to existing regulations. As a result, the women decided to kidnap a baby and made an agreement with their relative to sell the child for Rs 50,000.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case, and all three women are now in custody.
