Police in Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam, have dismantled an infant trafficking ring and arrested four women involved in the operation. The women, aged 29 to 33, come from various regions, including Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lai Province, and Ha Giang Province.
The suspects were identified as N.L.T.T., 29; D.T.T.S., 33; D.T.H.V., 33; and B.M.P., 29. They had rented two rooms at the Binh An 2 Hotel in the provincial city of Hoa Binh, where they were conducting their illegal activities.
According to police, the women regularly visited the maternity ward at Hoa Binh Provincial General Hospital to meet with a 35-year-old mother, identified as B.T.T., from Lac Son District. They were negotiating the sale of her newborn son.
Local authorities intervened during one of these meetings and arrested the women, rescuing the baby in the process.
An investigation into the baby trafficking ring is currently underway.
