Skai Jackson, the former Disney Channel star, is expecting her first child. The 22-year-old actress is set to become a mom with her boyfriend, who she has not publicly named, PEOPLE has confirmed.
“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life — embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects. My heart is so full!” Jackson shared with PEOPLE.
Jackson is gearing up for her next film role in The Man in the White Van, which will hit theaters on December 13. She recently attended Comic-Con to promote the film. As she prepares for motherhood, Jackson is also closely bonded with her own mother, Kiya Cole, who raised her as a single parent.
In a February 2023 interview, Jackson reflected on her mother’s influence, saying, “[My mom] always taught me to stand up for myself, stand up for what I believe in and fight for what is right. I thank her for that because without her, I probably wouldn’t have a lot of the confidence that I do now.”
Jackson, who rose to fame as Zuri Ross on Jessie and Bunk’d, admitted that being a role model comes with “a lot of pressure.” However, she added, “At the end of the day, I look at myself as the regular person that people just happen to like or enjoy.”
She emphasized the importance of setting a positive example, saying, “It’s very important for me to put out the right message, be positive at all times, and give my fans great advice. Let them know that anything that they want to do in life, they can achieve it.”
In 2019, Jackson released her book, Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower and Clapback, and she competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2020.
