The situation came to light when the girl experienced severe stomach pain while visiting a relative in Sivaganga. She was taken to a government hospital, where doctors discovered she was eight months pregnant. Hospital staff subsequently notified the police about her condition.
Afterward, the victim informed her parents that a priest from a nearby temple had assaulted her. Her parents then reported the incident to the authorities.
Medical personnel at the hospital are currently providing necessary care to the girl. Officials from the District Child Protection Unit and members of the Child Welfare Committee are still preparing their report on the case. A senior police officer stated that inquiries with the priest are ongoing, and further actions will be determined based on the investigation’s findings.
