by Jessica

Tragedy struck on the French island of Guadeloupe yesterday when a father discovered the decapitated bodies of his two young children in the family bathtub.

The victims, a four-year-old girl and a 13-month-old boy, were found by their father in their home overnight. Authorities have confirmed the children’s mother, who is now the main suspect in the case, was later found wandering the streets by police.

The mother, believed to be in her forties, was found naked and behaving erratically. When approached by two officers, she was reportedly incoherent and unable to explain her actions.

French public prosecutor Caroline Talbo stated that the woman was initially taken into custody. However, she was soon released due to her apparent mental state and was later hospitalized. A murder investigation has been launched, but further details have not yet been revealed.

This horrific incident comes just days after a similar tragedy in the U.S., where a woman took her own life and the lives of her two children by jumping off Niagara Falls. Chianti Means, 33, and her children, Roman, 9, and Mecca, 4 months, were found dead after jumping from Luna Island on Monday night. Despite extensive search efforts, authorities were unable to recover the bodies until days later.

Before her death, Means had posted on Facebook expressing her regret over her relationship with the father of her daughter, even writing about her admiration for her children. Just days prior to the tragedy, Means had described her daughter as “beautiful” and shared her sadness about the breakup.

Authorities continue to investigate both cases as the communities mourn the loss of these innocent lives.
