Margot Robbie is gearing up for motherhood! The 34-year-old star of Barbie is currently in Los Angeles, preparing for the arrival of her first child, according to a source speaking to PEOPLE. In July, it was confirmed by multiple sources that Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are expecting.
The insider revealed, “Margot absolutely can’t wait.” They added that the couple has long desired to be parents and are thrilled about this new chapter in their lives. “She looks amazing,” the source noted, emphasizing Robbie’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most dedicated actresses. However, it appears she is relishing some downtime away from filming.
While visiting hospitals in L.A., the Oscar nominee has continued to work on projects. “She seems to love staying busy,” the source said. Robbie has several upcoming projects, including A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, in collaboration with Colin Farrell and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She and Ackerley co-founded their production company, LuckyChap, and recently launched their gin brand, Papa Salt.
A source from the set of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey told PEOPLE in July that “no one” suspected Robbie was pregnant while filming. “She was super professional and focused,” the source added. Despite long working hours, “it didn’t seem like a big deal to her.”
Robbie and Ackerley have been together since 2014, after meeting on the set of Suite Française, where he served as an assistant director. They married in a private ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast in December 2016 and have kept their relationship largely out of the public eye. Robbie first revealed her baby bump at a screening of My Old Ass, produced by LuckyChap, on September 9. She attended the event alongside director Megan Park, actress Maisy Stella, and fellow producers Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Bronte Payne.
Regarding their journey to parenthood, a source told PEOPLE in July that Robbie and Ackerley “wanted to start a family for quite some time.” The source added that family is very important to both of them, and they recognized early in their relationship that becoming parents was a significant goal.
