Margot Robbie is set to welcome her first child! The 34-year-old star of Barbie is spending time in Los Angeles as she prepares for her baby’s arrival, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE. In July, it was confirmed by multiple sources that Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are expecting their first baby.
“Margot absolutely can’t wait,” the insider shared with PEOPLE. They noted that Robbie and Ackerley have wanted to be parents for a long time and are thrilled about this new chapter in their lives.
“She looks amazing,” the source continued. “She’s usually one of the hardest-working actresses in Hollywood, but she seems to be enjoying some downtime from filming now.”
Despite hospital visits in Los Angeles, the Oscar nominee has still been doing some work. “She loves staying busy,” the insider added. Robbie has several projects in development, including A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which features Colin Farrell and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Along with her husband, she co-founded the production company LuckyChap, and they recently launched a gin brand called Papa Salt.
A source from the set of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey told PEOPLE in July that “no one” suspected Robbie was pregnant during filming. “She was super professional and focused,” the source said, noting that she had long days but handled them effortlessly.
Robbie and Ackerley have been together since 2014. They met on the set of Suite Française, where Ackerley worked as an assistant director. The couple married in a private ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast in December 2016 and have kept their relationship mostly out of the public eye.
Robbie first revealed her baby bump on September 9 at a screening of My Old Ass, which was produced by LuckyChap. She attended the event with director Megan Park, actress Maisy Stella, and fellow producers Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Bronte Payne.
Regarding their journey to parenthood, a source mentioned to PEOPLE in July that Robbie and Ackerley had long desired to start a family. “Family means a lot to both of them, and they knew early on in their relationship that being parents was something they really wanted,” the insider stated.
