Meri Brown Reveals She Breastfed Kody’s Wife’s Child ‘Medically Necessary’

by Jessica

In the latest episode of Sister Wives, which aired on Sunday, October 13, Meri Brown opened up about a unique tradition in her community surrounding breastfeeding.

During the show, an off-camera director asked Christine Brown about a rumor that many sister wives in their church would breastfeed and swap children. Christine quickly dismissed the rumor, stating, “That is not true! No, that was a joke. That’s disgusting.”

However, Meri, 53, offered a different viewpoint in her confessional, revealing, “I actually breastfed one of our kids that was not my own child.” She explained that her actions were “medically necessary at the time,” but emphasized that it was not a common practice done for fun.

Janelle Brown also shared her thoughts, noting that she had never breastfed another child, citing her own medical issues. “I’ve never breastfed another baby. I never had enough milk,” she explained. “I would have been hard pressed to do that.”

Robyn Brown acknowledged the tradition, saying, “Yeah, it’s true. Women would breastfeed each other’s babies.” She clarified that while it may seem unusual, it is based on community support and necessity. “In our culture, I’ve seen it plenty of times,” Robyn said. “It’s not like musical babies; it’s more of a necessity and help, and a community of women being supportive to each other about their children.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on TLC.
