Country singer Brantley Gilbert had to leave his concert in Mississippi shortly after it began due to a family emergency. His wife, Amber, went into labor, and luckily, she was nearby on the tour bus.
There was no time to reach a hospital.
On Saturday, Gilbert shared the surprising experience on social media. He posted on Instagram, “So last night might have been the craziest night of my life. Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I’ll never forget.”
He expressed gratitude for the support they received. “Thank you to our road family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little dude into the world, and Tupelo, Mississippi, for showing us mad love and support,” he wrote. He added a special note to his wife: “Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you.”
A representative for Gilbert shared a photo from after the birth with Fox News Digital.
In his post, Gilbert included a video detailing the events of the night. The footage showed him beginning his performance before quickly leaving the stage. Next, viewers saw him running backstage, likely heading to the exit.
The video then transitioned to Gilbert on the tour bus, where he called his mother to share the news of her new grandchild. The camera showed a newborn lying on a towel, while other clips captured Amber resting on the couch and bonding with their baby through skin-to-skin contact. Gilbert praised his wife, saying, “She’s a freaking savage,” after she delivered their third child on the bus.
After calling his mother, he said, “Well, I’m going to go finish this show, and I’ll FaceTime you after,” as the footage showed him walking back onstage. It is unclear how long he was away from the concert.
When he returned, Gilbert announced to the crowd, “We got a baby!” The audience erupted in cheers.
The couple had revealed they were expecting their third child on Mother’s Day. Gilbert’s next concert is scheduled for October 17 in Savannah, Georgia.
