Emma Lyon, wife of Australian cricketer Nathan Lyon, has officially confirmed the gender of their baby, more than a year after her birth. The couple now has three daughters together.
Nathan Lyon, a 36-year-old champion off-spinner, has two daughters from his previous relationship with Mel Waring. He and Emma welcomed their first child together in September 2022, as reported exclusively by Daily Mail Australia.
This week, Emma shared two photos on Instagram with their daughter, whom she affectionately refers to as her “Mini me.” In one of the images, the little girl is seen wearing a T-shirt that says “daddy’s girl.”
Before the birth of their daughter, there were no signs that Emma was expecting. The couple successfully kept the pregnancy a secret. Emma attended the 2023 Ashes tour in the UK with other partners of the Australian team after marrying Nathan in July 2022. She skillfully edited her Instagram photos to avoid any hints of her pregnancy.
Even when paparazzi spotted her, Emma wore an overcoat that concealed any visible signs of pregnancy. The couple is known for their privacy; they also kept their engagement a secret before getting married.
Nathan and Emma’s relationship began controversially when they were photographed kissing in Perth in late 2017, while Nathan was still with Waring. In March 2018, Waring shared her heartbreak in a blog post, expressing her deep pain and recounting nights spent crying in bed with their children.
“I didn’t ask for this; this wasn’t the way my life was supposed to be. He was my forever; he was my whole world,” she wrote.
Since then, Waring has found a new partner, but she has not revealed his identity.
Nathan and Emma started dating in 2017 and purchased a home together in Sydney in 2020. Rumors of their engagement surfaced in 2022 and were confirmed when Emma was seen wearing a significant ring at the fourth Test against India at the Gabba. She also posted about her search for a wedding dress on Instagram.
As for Nathan Lyon, he is set to play a crucial role for Australia when they host India for a five-Test series this summer, with the first Test scheduled to take place in Perth starting November 22.
