A couple has chosen a unique name for their baby boy, confident he will be the only one with it in his school, despite online criticism suggesting he might face bullying. Casey Hennessy, 21, and her partner, Zacchaeus Harper, 25, are enthusiasts of traditional names.
When they learned they were expecting a boy, they considered names like Winston, Axel, and Finnegan. Ultimately, one name resonated with them. On December 9, 2023, at 11:13 p.m., Casey gave birth to Arnold, who weighed 8 lbs 3 oz. Casey stated that the moment she saw him, she knew his name was Arnold. The couple is delighted with their choice and believes he will be affectionately called Arnie, a nod to Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to the Mirror.
Casey, a healthcare assistant from Eastbourne, East Sussex, said, “I like the idea of him having a traditional name—it sounds smart. We shorten his name to Arnie to make it sound more youthful. We both appreciate traditional names. People often refer to him as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Hey Arnold.”
Casey welcomed her first child, Maggie, now two, on April 28, 2022. When she learned she was expecting a second child in March 2023, she decided on a classic name.
She explained, “We both like traditional names. It was challenging to choose a boy’s name. I like that these names are genuine and can have nicknames. I also wanted him to be the only Arnold in his class.”
Although the name Arnold is rare and fading, Casey was certain from the start that it was the right choice. She added, “He could have been Winston, Murphy, or Axel—names we liked—but as soon as I saw him, I knew he was an Arnold. None of the other names fit him; it just felt right.”
