American rapper Eve has shared a deeply personal experience from 2006, revealing that she suffered an ectopic pregnancy while filming her self-titled TV series.
In an excerpt from her book Who’s That Girl? published by People, the 45-year-old artist disclosed that she misled her colleagues by saying she had appendicitis, as she needed to take a two-week break from filming.
Eve, known for her hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” openly discussed her emotional struggle with the loss of her unborn child. She described the condition as a “tubal pregnancy,” where the embryonic sac ruptured in one of her fallopian tubes.
Reflecting on her decision to claim appendicitis rather than revealing the truth, Eve said, “Maybe because I was lying to myself. If I faced losing my baby, then I didn’t know if two weeks would be enough emotional healing time.”
She further shared that over time, she learned to “forgive herself” for the loss, acknowledging that it wasn’t her fault. Eve now feels ready to embrace motherhood and believes she deserved the chance to bring a child into the world.
According to the Mayo Clinic, an ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus, often in the fallopian tube, and it cannot survive.
In February 2022, Eve and her husband, British entrepreneur and Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper, 52, welcomed their son, Wilde Wolf. Eve also has four stepchildren. The couple has been married for ten years.
When announcing Wilde Wolf’s birth on Instagram, Eve expressed her joy, stating, “Words can’t describe this feeling.”
