Nada Hafez, a 26-year-old fencer from Egypt, recently revealed that she was seven months pregnant while competing at the Paris Olympics. Despite being eliminated in the Round of 16, Hafez shared her emotional journey in a heartfelt Instagram post.
Hafez expressed her pride in competing while in her last trimester, describing her experience as both physically and emotionally challenging. She wrote, “What may seem like two players on the podium was actually three: me, my competitor, and my soon-to-be baby. Balancing the demands of pregnancy with the intensity of competition was incredibly tough, but it was worth every effort.”
She continued, “I am immensely proud of reaching the Round of 16 and grateful for the support of my husband and family. Their trust and encouragement helped me achieve this milestone.”
During the competition, Hafez won against American fencer Elizabeth Tartakovsky but was defeated by South Korea’s Jeon Hayoung.
