by Jessica

Jodie Grinham, a Paralympic hopeful, is gearing up to compete in her second Games—this time while 28 weeks pregnant.

Grinham, 30, is set to represent ParalympicsGB in compound archery at the Paris Games. She hopes to demonstrate the possibilities for women during pregnancy, aiming to inspire others with her achievements.

In her debut at the Paralympics, Grinham won a silver medal in the mixed team event with John Stubbs at the Rio 2016 Games. Now, as a mother of one living in Crawley, she looks forward to competing again.

“It’s a very different experience for me this time around,” Grinham said. “I’m both excited and prepared as an athlete, but as a mother, I’ll miss my home and my son while competing in Paris.”

Grinham, originally from Wales, gave birth to her son, Christian, in October 2022 and is expecting her second child. Born with Brachysyndactyly—a condition affecting her left arm and hand—Grinham is determined to make a strong showing.

Her team for Paris includes Tokyo gold medallist Phoebe Paterson Pine, Nathan MacQueen, competing in his third Games, and debutant Victoria Kingstone.

Grinham’s Paralympic journey will begin on August 29 with the Women’s compound archery opening round. If she advances, she could contend for a gold medal on August 31.

The Paralympic Games officially start on August 28.
