French surfer Johanne Defay, who recently announced her pregnancy, revealed on social media that she will compete in the CT 3 event at Supertubos, Portugal, while four months pregnant. The competition is scheduled to take place from March 15 to 25.
“I’ve been excited to participate in the Meo Peniche Pro this year, even though I’m four months pregnant. It’s the only event in Europe, and I love both the location and the people,” Defay shared on Instagram.
She continued, “I hope we get good waves, not too big or powerful, but we’ll see. Regardless, I’ll do my best and enjoy the time spent with family. This will be my final event of the year.”
Defay, who missed the first stage at Pipeline but competed in Abu Dhabi, announced that it’s time for a break, and her pregnancy news followed shortly after.
With her decision to step back from the competition, Nadia Erostarbe will take her place in the elite starting at the next event in El Salvador.
