Kent Baby Store Goes Into Liquidation, Customers Seek Refunds

by Jessica

Little Poppets & Co, a family-owned nursery goods store in Sevenoaks, has gone into liquidation after abruptly closing its doors. The company, which had been in business since 2012, has left several customers frustrated after they paid for orders that were never delivered.

One father, who paid for items but did not receive them, reported the situation to Kent Police. His case was then passed to Action Fraud, the national center for fraud and cybercrime reports. As of now, Companies House records show that Little Poppets & Co has appointed a liquidator, signaling the company’s official move into liquidation.

On social media platforms like Facebook, numerous customers have expressed their concern, seeking updates on the status of their orders or refunds. Some individuals reported paying as much as £2,085 for a pram and car seat, while others paid £1,600 for an Egg pram travel bundle. Many of these payments were made through bank transfers, and several customers had expected their goods to arrive by November or December 2024.

Michael Royce, an insolvency practitioner from MR Insolvency, was appointed as the liquidator on January 10. This marks the beginning of the creditors’ voluntary liquidation (CVL) process, meaning the company has voluntarily decided to wind up its affairs. According to Companies House, an Extraordinary Resolution to wind up the company will be published in the coming days.

Little Poppets & Co’s website is no longer accessible, with a simple message stating that it is “permanently closed.” However, its X (formerly Twitter) account is still online, though it has not posted since 2020.

During liquidation, the company’s assets are sold, and the funds are distributed among creditors. Ultimately, the company will be dissolved and cease to exist legally. In this case, the liquidation is voluntary, rather than being enforced by a court order.

Before the liquidation was announced, Kent Police and Action Fraud had been investigating the matter. Claire Webb, acting director of Action Fraud, confirmed that the agency received a report on December 20, 2024, and that it was being assessed by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau.
