A Sussex County family celebrated the New Year in a special way at 12:39 a.m. on Wednesday with the birth of a baby boy. Andy Amilcar Tzoy Mendoza became the first baby born at Beebe Healthcare in 2025. Parents Rosa Mendoza Ortiz and Uber Amilcar Tzoy Torraza were thrilled to welcome their son and learn that he was the first baby of the New Year. Andy weighed 6 pounds and 0.2 ounces and measured 19 inches in length.
To mark the occasion, Beebe’s Labor & Delivery team gifted the family a basket filled with newborn essentials, along with a gift card and other items from the Beebe Medical Foundation.
Beebe’s Commitment to Quality Care for Families
Beebe Healthcare is proud to be a baby-friendly hospital, ensuring every new mother is educated on the importance of breastfeeding. The hospital not only highlights the benefits of breastfeeding but also supports mothers in getting started immediately after delivery. Newborns are placed in skin-to-skin contact with their mothers right after birth or a C-section, and lactation consultants are available to assist.
Beebe Healthcare also holds recognition as a “Safe Sleep Champion” from the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program. This distinction reflects Beebe’s dedication to infant safety, aiming to prevent sleep-related deaths caused by accidental suffocation through education and adherence to best practices.
