Lady Melissa Percy, the daughter of the Duke of Northumberland, has added a seventh child to her growing family. The 37-year-old, known as “Missy” among friends, gave birth to her second daughter, Ivy, last Friday in Florida. Ivy joins twin sons Percy and Alfred, born in 2023, and older sister Bluebell, who was born in 2020.
Missy’s second husband, Remy Trafelet, an American hedge fund billionaire 17 years her senior, is also the father of three children from his previous marriage: Remy, Charlotte, and Franny.
The couple met after Lady Melissa’s divorce from Thomas van Straubenzee, Princess Charlotte’s godfather, in 2016. At the time of their wedding, Prince William and Prince Harry were among the guests, having been friends of Missy’s ex-husband.
Growing up at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, which famously served as the backdrop for the Harry Potter films, Lady Melissa has always had a strong connection to the UK. However, she has spoken openly about her preference for life in the United States, telling her father at a young age that she would never live in England.
Despite her aristocratic background, Lady Melissa, who shares a passion for the outdoors with Remy, has embraced a quieter, more private life. The couple divides their time between their New York home, Remy’s estate in Georgia, and Alnwick, where Lady Melissa maintains close ties to her roots.
Lady Melissa’s first marriage to Thomas van Straubenzee, which lasted less than three years, ended in 2016. Reflecting on the experience, she previously told YOU magazine, “It was a very hard thing to go through, but it kicked me into action.” Her divorce helped her gain clarity on what she wanted out of life.
Now happily married to Remy, Lady Melissa has grown closer to American life, finding contentment in spending time at home. She enjoys cooking and relishes being in the country.
As a member of British high society, Missy counts Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend, as one of her closest friends. The two met when both were involved with prominent figures in the British royal family and have been inseparable ever since.
Lady Melissa’s first wedding, held at Alnwick Castle in 2013, was a glamorous affair attended by family and royal friends, including Prince William, who was an usher, and Chelsy, who served as a bridesmaid.
Meanwhile, Chelsy Davy, another close friend of Lady Melissa’s, recently welcomed her second child, Chloe, while also launching a new jewelry collection named after her daughter. Chelsy, who married hotelier Sam Cutmore-Scott in a private ceremony, now has two children, a boy named Leo and her daughter, Chloe. Her life has also been marked by a preference for privacy, with Leo’s birth being kept under wraps until three months after his arrival.
As both Lady Melissa and Chelsy navigate motherhood and family life, their stories reflect a blend of aristocratic heritage and personal reinvention, as they balance public and private lives with grace.
