Gypsy Rose Blanchard, known for her involvement in the killing of her abusive mother, has welcomed her first child.
Blanchard’s boyfriend, Ken Urker, shared a photo of the new mom with the baby, writing, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all.” The child was born on December 28, exactly one year after Blanchard’s release from prison, according to People.
In an interview with People, Blanchard revealed that the baby’s name is Aurora, inspired by the couple’s admiration for the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights.
Blanchard, 32, was released from prison in December 2023 after serving over seven years of a 10-year sentence for her role in her mother Dee Dee’s death. Blanchard had been a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, where a caregiver intentionally makes their child sick to gain attention.
In 2024, Blanchard reunited with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. She was previously married to Ryan Anderson, but they filed for divorce in April.
Blanchard shared that her pregnancy was unplanned in a July YouTube video. “It was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood,” she said.
Blanchard’s story, including her involvement in her mother’s death, became a true crime sensation. Her life was dramatized in the 2019 Hulu series The Act. After her release, Blanchard began telling her own story, appearing on the Lifetime reality show Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup and publishing a memoir in December.
