Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright are excited to announce they are expecting their first child together. The couple, both 37, shared the news in a heartwarming Instagram post on Sunday, featuring a photo of Michelle gently cradling her baby bump. The caption read, “2025 is going to be a special one for us…”
The pair, who married in May 2015, live in a custom-built mansion in Essex. Mark, a Heart Radio host and former star of ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), is already an uncle to his brother Josh’s children and his sister Jess’s son. He has long expressed his desire to become a father.
On December 22, the couple was spotted enjoying a double date at The Ivy with Mark’s former TOWIE co-star James Argent and his girlfriend.
Since sharing the joyful announcement, the couple has been flooded with congratulatory messages from friends and family. Celebrities including Rochelle Humes, Kelly Brook, Vicky Pattison, and best friend James Argent sent their well-wishes. Argent expressed his happiness, saying, “I love you and I’m so happy for you both. You’re going to be amazing parents. I can’t wait to be an uncle.”
Other well-wishers included Mark’s sister-in-law Hollie, who commented, “Josh and Dusty can’t wait to meet their new cousin,” and Mark’s sister Natalya, who wrote, “So so happy for you both. The best news ever.”
The couple’s pregnancy announcement came after a private winter getaway to Majorca in early November, where they took the photograph. A friend captured the image on an empty beach, ensuring they wouldn’t be seen. Michelle and Mark had kept the pregnancy a secret since telling their loved ones in autumn.
Michelle, best known for her role on Coronation Street and Netflix’s Fool Me Once, recently starred in the hit drama, which garnered over 98 million views in its first 91 days. She began her acting career playing Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street, leaving the show in 2014. Since then, Michelle has appeared in Our Girl, Ten Pound Poms, and Brassic.
Mark, who left TOWIE in 2011, later pursued a career in presenting, hosting Extra TV and competing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing. In 2023, he hosted The Challenge: UK and partnered with Spencer Matthews for a collaboration with Marks & Spencer.
The couple’s Essex mansion, which they began renovating in 2019, features five bedrooms, a bar, cinema room, sauna, and a custom-built kitchen. In an interview with The Observer, Michelle recalled being overwhelmed with emotion when she first saw the finished house after months of filming in Australia. She described Mark’s thoughtful gesture of lighting candles in the home, which left her in tears of joy.
Michelle and Mark’s renovation journey was shared with their followers on Instagram, where they documented the transformation of their dream home, purchased for £1.3 million and completed in August 2023.
