Adams County detectives are expressing their gratitude to the community after receiving help in locating the family of a one-month-old baby discovered abandoned on Christmas morning.
Authorities reported that the baby was found sitting in a car seat in the median near 7490 Pecos St., wearing only a diaper. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) received a 911 call around 9:30 a.m. on Christmas Day from a passerby who found the baby.
“We hope someone recognizes the car seat or has information about the baby or family so we can reunite them, and the person responsible for abandoning the child can be held accountable,” said the ACSO.
A social worker is currently with the baby at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where the infant is being kept under observation as a precaution. Authorities are still uncertain when the baby was left in the median, though no visible injuries were reported.
Around 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office provided an update, thanking the public for their assistance in finding the baby’s family. “Our investigators have made contact with the family members, and we are continuing the investigation. Criminal charges will be pursued if appropriate,” the ACSO stated.
