FORT COLLINS, Colo — A Baby Jesus figurine stolen from a nativity scene in Fort Collins has been returned with an apology note.
The figurine, part of the Old Town Square Nativity display, was taken on Tuesday. Fort Collins police shared a photo of the suspect, hoping to get the figurine back.
“This Grinch tried to ruin Christmas by stealing the Baby Jesus from the Old Town Square nativity scene,” the Fort Collins Police Services said in a Facebook post.
On Thursday, the figurine was dropped off anonymously at Poudre Fire Authority Station #1, along with a note that read, “I am really sorry, I made a dumb mistake in the moment. It won’t happen again.”
